The role must successfully ensure smooth running and delivery of products/projects on a day-to-day basis, using Agile and Waterfall methodologies, to deadlines and within budget. Provide good technical and business decision making to ensure quality of the deliverables is achieved and that the risks & issues are managed effectively Key Responsibilities Takes full responsibility for the definition, documentation and successful completion of complex projects (typically greater than 12 months, with significant business, political, or high-profile impact, and high-risk dependencies), ensuring risk management processes are maintained Effectively leads and motivates a multi disciplined team to deliver high quality software solutions against challenging deadlines Monitors and controls resources, revenue and capital costs against the project budget and manages expectations of all project stakeholders Ensures that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and provides regular and accurate reports to stakeholders as appropriate Is able to effectively identify our exposure and risk on projects and make recommendations to senior management on appropriate risk mitigation strategies Ensures Quality reviews occur on schedule and according to procedure Manages the change control procedure, and ensures that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off Analyses business processes; identifies alternative solutions, assesses feasibility, and recommends new approaches Contributes to evaluating the factors, which must be addressed in the change programme Helps establish requirements for the implementation of changes in the business process Ensures that own projects are formally closed, reviewed, and that lessons learned are recorded Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential Project management qualification such as PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, APMP or similar ISEB project management qualifications University Graduate with minimum of five years direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development, execution and the delivery of Client product solutions Strong familiarity with project management financials, inclusive of estimation, costing, tracking estimates versus actuals Strong Client facing skills Experience of working across multiple delivery organisations practising distributed development (ideally globally) Experienced in working in multi-disciplined development teams Excellent written & spoken English & interpersonal communication Must have the following personal characteristics Team player Self-motivator; A willingness to learn new skills The ability to thrive in a fast moving and changing environment The ability to show initiative and to work independently Thoroughness and attention to detail Strong communication skills (presentation, technical competence and quiet confidence) Willingness to take on a variety of roles and responsibilities Keenness to share ideas and to provide fresh insights Ability to relate to technical development staff Comfortable working with people at all levels in an organisation Experience of working with internal resources and able to secure reliable estimates and commitment to timescales Travel to other business and customer sites globally may be required MS Office and MS Project (or other planning tool) knowledge IT specific Experience in using structured Agile and Waterfall software development methods across the full software development lifecycle encompassing analysis, architecture, design, development, system and integration testing, UAT and production deployment & support In depth knowledge of technology product development lifecycle with experience of Agile/Lean product development practises and techniques with the ability to coach and mentor teams and individual From a software development background Experienced in delivering web applications built on the Microsoft .Net / MVC stack, CF/PHP/Ingress Understanding of current and future technology landscape (e.g. web 2.0, mobile) and able to converse intelligently with technical experts Commercially specific Ability to understand clients business and envision commercial opportunities for the group and the client Business domain knowledge around loyalty, on line marketing or insurance would be advantageous Understanding and prior experience of working within a small company or start-up Experience gained in a structured environment but able to apply techniques rapidly to an environment seeking to become more structured Successful experience in project management in a commercially focused role with strong analytics background 2 to 3 years of Sales/Marketing experience, preferably achieved within a consultancy or insurance environment with international and cross-functional demands The role comes with a competitive salary, 25 days annual leave £50,000 - £55,000 |
