As a Microsoft Gold Partner with the PPM Specialisation we are a “go to” partner for Microsoft (UK & Western Europe). We retain considerable expertise deploying Microsoft Project Online (cloud) and Microsoft Project Server (on premise). Our expertise extends to a number of closely related Microsoft solutions based primarily around the Office 365 platform with a focus on Microsoft Power BI.
Our Microsoft PPM Services and Approach
We work in partnership with our clients enabling them to lever the benefits of Microsoft technology as part of a step change in their project & portfolio management (PPM) maturity. Many organisations are benefiting from Office 365 and are familiar with the desktop client Microsoft Project. Microsoft Project Online is an natural next step and brings a wealth of benefits. As PPM and PMO experts our services extend beyond the “technical” and focus on delivering practical, cost effective business benefit.

Not just a Software Implementation
To ensure success, it should be recognised that a Microsoft Project Online implementation is not simply a software roll out project but a business change and as such must consider the supporting business processes and impact on users.
Every PPM implementation must be driven by a business need so consider which business pain points PPM can help your organisation resolve. Each implementation should focus on resolving the priority pain points as early as possible, returning benefits from implementation quickly.
There are several simple steps you can take to maximise implementation success:
- Small steps: implementation failure often occurs due to over ambitious objectives
- Phased: requirements (business needs) should be defined and prioritised and rolled out as the maturity of the organisation or department increases
- Buy in: you should aim to get buy in from the end users, not just senior management
- Training: ensure that the key users attend ALL training sessions and are fully committed without disruptions
Microsoft PPM Implementation Lifecycle
Our deployment approach is scalable based on the size and complexity of an implementation, but in general they always follow the Wellingtone PRIME lifecycle model outlined below.
Wellingtone provide a named Project Lead for each engagement, this would be a Senior Consultant and depth expert in deploying Microsoft PPM solutions. The Project Lead would discuss and agree the implementation plan during the initial Discovery Workshops and schedule in a recurring checkpoint meeting for the duration of your engagement. Your Project Lead will oversee the wider Wellingtone team engaged on your project (Technical & Training Consultants).
Our goal is to provide practical solutions based on best practice aligned with your PPM ways of working. We focus on simplicity and taking all users along the journey with effective change management. There is no value in deploying a sophisticated solution if no one uses it, so it’s important to focus on your business drivers and delivering practical successful solutions.
